TOWN COUNCIL

SERVING WELLINGTON & ROCKWELL GREEN

Wellington is a growing and thriving town close to the Somerset/Devon county boundary and ideally placed as a Gateway to the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The town has a population of around 15,000 represented by 15 town councillors, six district councillors, and two county councillors comprising a mix of the three main political Parties and Independents.

Town Mayor Councillor Janet Lloyd

Council meetings are conducted by the Town Mayor Councillor Janet Lloyd or, in her absence, the Deputy Mayor Councillor Mark Lithgow.

The Full Council meetings are usually at 7 pm on the first Monday of each month at the United Reformed Church, Fore Street.  They are preceded each month on the same day by the Finance Committee at 5.45 pm and by the Planning Committee of the council at 6.15 pm (times may vary, see agendas). All meetings of the Council and its Committees are open to the public.  The public may speak and ask questions (see our public participation policy). The council also holds additional public meetings when a particular subject needs detailed discussion.
